W.W. Dies, Robey, Sr., Becomes President
W.W. Estes dies after a prolonged illness, and the company mourns the loss of its beloved founder.
Robey W. Estes, Sr., becomes president.

1972
A.C. Express and Johnson Express Purchase
Estes expands authority into western North Carolina and parts of South Carolina with the purchase of A.C. Express and Johnson Express.

1975
Pollard Delivery Service Purchase
Maryland and Washington, DC, authorities are added to Estes' territory when the company purchases Pollard Delivery Service.

1976
Bestway Express Purchase
The purchase of Bestway Express is the biggest move of the decade, opening up the rest of South Carolina.

1978
Palmer Motor Express Purchase
Estes extends its authority into Savannah, GA, with the Palmer Motor Express purchase.
