Job Summary
  • Schedule, supervise and manage day-to-day activities of assigned staff of Coordinators and/or Specialists to include scheduling shifts and vacations and coordinating the workflow
  • Conduct performance reviews, assist with interviews, hiring, training and developing personnel; ensure application of all departmental and Company policies and procedures
  • Continuously assess Estes Air Service capabilities and considerations in order to creatively service individual customers shipments and capabilities both in service and yield with a goal of 100% customer satisfaction
  • Review, evaluate and address service and cost issues on a day-to-day basis by formulating corrective measures to both eliminate issues and/or maximize opportunities for both single shipments and consolidations
  • Monitor and manage shipment forwarding within area of responsibility to ensure most current information is available
  • Assist the Manager(s) in the continuing development of additional sources of service suppliers
  • Develop and maintain strong positive working relationship with Coordinators and Specialists, internal and external customers and all service providers through pro-active issue identification, resolution and frequent interface.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Operations management experience in a transportation and distribution environment, preferably heavy in LTL and expedited transportation required; three or more years preferred
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills at a management level, including operations planning, customer service, tactical task management, resource deployment, coaching and training skillss
  • Demonstrated team leadership and participative management skills, including facilitation, conflict and problem resolution and consensus building abilities
  • Must be able to be on call 24/7 and work evenings and weekends as required
  • Experience with customers and sales teams for growth with an emphasis on achieving higher levels of service performance
  • Proven track record of achievement in a non-asset based freight forwarding system preferred
